How to Pray Powerfully In The Name Of Jesus

When we pray in the name of Jesus, in His authority, totally convinced when we declare His name that we are His family and we have the rights to this name, it is very powerful indeed. However, if it becomes rote — if we get tired of saying it, or we’re not paying attention when we say it — it’s not going to carry the same force of authority that it will when we declare it with our full hearts, minds and voices focused on it. Not violently, but in such a way that you are thoroughly convinced the name of Jesus is above all other names and every demon must bow to that name. So we need to establish exactly who Jesus is to us when we say His name.

When you say, “In the Name of Jesus” it can very easily become rote, to the point where you really don’t declare His name with full attention and intention. To offset this tendency to numb out when we pray this part of the prayer, we must begin to declare something about Him that will call our attention to the true meaning of the Name.

This is what I’ve been praying:

“In the Name above all Names, Jesus Christ…” and then the prayer.

“In the Name of the Son of the Living God, Creator of Heaven and Earth…”

“In the Mighty Name of Jesus…”

“In The Name Of Jesus, to Whom every knee will bow, every tongue confess…”

“In the Name of the Mighty One, Jesus our Lord…”

“In the Name Above all Names, in Heaven and on the Earth, Jesus Christ our Lord…”

“In the Name of Jesus, the Christ, the Son of the Living God, I command you…” and then you go into the prayer.

“In the Name of Jesus my Spouse, King of Heaven and Earth, I command you evil spirits…” and then you say the rest of the prayer.

I’ve noticed an increase in effectiveness, praying this way. And certainly it gives more honor to Him. So, when you do this, you are declaring to those demons who Jesus is to you and to all of Creation. You are appropriating His Mighty Name, which you have the right to use against evil, and you are taking authority with intention, rather than repeating ‘the Name above all names’ in a manner that is somewhat dulled to the power in that name.

We can all take familiar things in a superficial way after a time. I’m not saying that the Name of Jesus has no effect when you say it; of course not. But when we’re a little numb in praying the prayer, we are not praying with strong intention. So, in full awareness of the power of that Name, we declare to the demons we are focused, and not just shooting scatter-shot.

The Lord told us that we must pray the binding prayer with intention. In other words, if you are thinking about something else, you’re distracted and not pinning the demons down with the full force of your intention.

I catch myself doing that frequently and when I do, I go back and pray that passage of the binding prayer again, until I know I was seriously intent on them obeying and not saying it half-heartedly. So, when you pray the binding prayer, do it with full intention, conviction, and even ask the Warring Angels to enforce it. In this way, what you say with your mouth, you believe in your heart and it’s a done deal.

A prayer for nightmares

Every night, my husband and I pray this prayer: “In the Name of Jesus, I call upon the Holy Angels to protect our sleep, to surround and protect us from all intruders,  projections, and every evil. Amen.”

And this prayer works very well. When we don’t pray it, it’s not good! So, I do remember to pray it.

Have you any calling cards for the demons in your house?

A calling card is anything that originated from a contaminated, demonic source that especially opens the door to evil by its content. You’ll find that in the newspaper, in magazines, music, videos, articles, native art – anything like that can open the door.  I don’t allow newspapers or magazines in my house. Make sure your house is clean and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you any open doors.

And if you’ve got teenagers, oh boy. You’ve got a lot of open doors, unless they’re very holy, that is. And that’s pretty rare. And even when they are holy, sometimes teenagers just won’t agree with you that something’s bad because they’ll feel deprived if they have to give it up.

I was born in England in the middle of WWII. I am a retired Spanish and French teacher, and in later years I became a Bible School lecturer. My husband and I have been very happily married for fifty-one years. We have three children and three grandchildren. The most important choice I made in my life was to ask Jesus Christ to come into my heart and be my Saviour. I was born again during my first term at university in 1961, after searching for the truth for several years. Jesus has brought me into a beautiful, close, intimate walk with Him and I chat to Him often throughout the day. When my husband and I took early retirement we worked as missionaries in India. We were privileged to see awesome healing miracles, and many lives transformed by the power of God. I have also worked for Jesus in Spain, France and South Africa. It is very much on my heart to write about the breathtakingly wonderful things I have seen Jesus do, and to encourage others to trust Him for themselves. The Lord has always been there for me through the almost sixty years I have known Him. He has never let me down, and His grace is always more than sufficient in times of need. Jesus shows His boundless love for me in so many ways. Truly, I am So Greatly Loved.

  1. Thanks for Binding prayer. But I am disturbed about these prayers, which I saw in Heartdwellers!:

Praying the rosary – Hail Mary

Praying to Mary. Saints who met Mary in heaven , say she directed them to read where the Bible says we are to pray in the name if Jesus Christ and through Him to the Father not to her. She said she is an instrument like any other God used and uses.
Some of the prophecies that never came to pass, especially in 2016. Sometimes we have to pose and check whether we are in course. There are instances I realised I had been compromised and had to repent and chuck out the strangers.

I wish you to understand that I am not writing you off. Look at John the Baptist in prison- asking whether Jesus was the one they were waiting for. This same prophet prophecies about Jesus. His disciples. These are perilious times. The challenges are great, and the forces if evil are desperately wicked. God help us to stand and walk on course.

God shine His Son’s Light on your path. God bless you.

    1. We cannot say prophecies in 2016 did not come to pass, because what happened was the sheer volume of committed, believing intercession moved the Father’s heart. Many fail to understand this, and I do sympathise with your reaction. Prayer definitely does move the heart of God. Jesus said to me once, “your tears [i.e. of intercession] are moving My Father’s heart.”

I am Pentecostal, but (unlike many Protestants) I understand that on the Cross Jesus gave His beloved Mother to be a mother to us too. I have unexpectedly heard her speaking to me. She always points us to her beloved Son —without fail. Recently I’ve asked Mary to help me, and she always does. I haven’t time to write about the astonishing encounters I have had.

Mother Clare helped me to understand years ago that I’m called to be a ‘victim soul.’ I hadn’t heard that term before. It makes total sense to me because way back in 1986 the Lord gave me the Rhema Isaiah 48:10. Further confirmation came recently (two years ago) when Jesus walked into my room wearing His crown of thorns and carrying another one which He placed on my head. It was not a vision (though I’m blessed to see one from time to time). Jesus was there in IN PERSON this time; and I felt the tangibility of the thorns pressing into my forehead. He spoke to me about suffering and offering it up for souls to be won. I’ve since looked this up on the internet. It is true.

The ministry of suffering is real, Stella. You can read about it on the internet. It isn’t only Catholic saints… it’s simple nobodies like me who didn’t even realise they had this calling!

I hope this helps. My husband and I were missionaries in India. I’ve written on that. One of my most significant posts is “The Most Astonishing Chromosome Count Ever.” This information should go viral! It would speak volumes to atheists.

      God bless you, Stella.
